Summary: A city landmark and one of the best auditoriums to visit. Has a cafe and a book store.
Rangashankara is one of the best places in Bengaluru for anyone who loves theatre. The space feels very welcoming and is designed in a way that brings audiences close to the performances. The sound and lighting are excellent, and you get a clear view of the stage from almost every seat.
They offer a great mix of plays across different languages like Kannada, English, and Hindi, which keeps it interesting every time you visit. Ticket prices are very reasonable, making it easy for more people to enjoy live performances.
The small café inside serves simple but tasty food and drinks — perfect for a quick bite before or after the play. The whole place is very clean and well maintained. Staff members are polite and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is peaceful and focused on enjoying art.
Parking can be a little difficult during busy shows, so it’s better to reach a bit early or take public transport.
Overall, Rangashankara is a lovely place to experience good theatre and spend a quiet, meaningful evening. Highly recommend visiting if you enjoy live performances, or even if you are new to theatre!

This is a performing theatre venue with a capacity for around 300 viewers. The venue is in a busy area of Bangalore and has many a eateries nearby. The acoustics, lighting and the cushioned bench seating and all are well maintained. Very tiring to search for a four wheeler parking nearby on the busy streets nearby – especially when you reach the venue less than an hour to the show timing – as all the nearby available parking spaces will be full. The canteen is a real attraction here where the menu is seen elaborate on the wall & the “saboodana Vada” and chutney & pav bhaaji that we ate were very tasty. Male toilet was stinking bad where the management needs to give more attention to make your visit a really smooth… Overall a very good auditorium.

1. Big building has ground floor, 1st floor
2. Indoor cafe is lovely
3. Small book library
4. 1st floor to stage drama
5. Easy wheel chair access.
6. Nearby metro access

Beautifully built stage which gives really a great experience to the audience and the artists as well. You feel like you have entered a ew artistic world . The experience is amazing. The seating arrangements, the acoustics , lighting everything is brilliant. You have parking facility for 2 wheelers. Live theatre experience is brilliant

Sampath the manager, did not let us enter. As I am typing I am standing outside the theatre for the play ‘des’ 7;30pm. Reached at 7:41pm. There were 10 people already waiting and they did not let people enter who came 2 mns late. There is no respect for audience their time and money and effort to reach this place from across Bangalore. I would not recommend this place for any play. There are better auditoriums that have put up different great acts. We can surely ignore this place and show them that play and audience goes hand in hand. Don’t go by the rating. Place must have been good in its olden days. But if you want to get insulted please go ahead and visit this place like me who wasted hard earned money and above all precious money for 30 mins of insult and turmoil into Ranga shankara and “Sampath”. It’s not worth it. Please preserve your peace and avoid this place.
Also, this is not about the rules at all. It’s about how you treat people, who due to various reasons can be late and you do not know their backdrop. Please groom your staffs in how to handle such situations peacefully rather than taking it personal and insulting. This staff named “Sampath” needs to take serious training in this. Every latecomers are not lazy they have specific reasons. Please respect that in the way you speak to them. Staff should be cultured enough before you say this space is for culture and arts. This wasn’t expected of Ranga shankara. Banning this for life .one less problem in life

Ranga Shankara in JP Nagar is a great place for theatre lovers. The space is cozy, with good sound and a friendly atmosphere. I watched the play “Trial of Abdus Salam” here. It was powerful, emotional, and made you think. The story stayed with me long after it ended. With a nice café, book store and welcoming feel, Ranga Shankara is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys drama and culture. Just make sure you reach the venue 5 minutes before the show starts as they close doors to ensure the least disturbance to the artists.

Ravindra Kala Kshethra stands as a significant institution for the performing arts. The architecture itself suggests a dedication to cultural preservation, offering a space designed to showcase a wide array of performances. It’s a location that fosters appreciation for traditional arts and provides a valuable platform for artists and audiences alike. A focus on accessibility is appreciated for all involved.
While the space is undeniably historic and maintains a certain charm, some improvements would greatly enhance the visitor experience. Modernization of the seating arrangements to prioritize comfort would allow for longer engagements. Additionally, improved ventilation and consistent temperature control are essential for audience well-being during events, ensuring a more enjoyable and memorable experience.

Madhusudhanan S (☆ 4/5)

It’s one of the most iconic places, but the seating arrangements to be changed as it’s too old and you will not be able to enjoy any show for more than half an hour as the seating is too congested. Plenty of parking, still feel the nostalgia when you enter the building but seating and the sound system must be changed.
Naveen Kumara M M (☆ 4/5)

A venue with legacy, but in need of thoughtful restoration.
Had the opportunity to visit Ravindra Kalakshetra as a guest. While the location is central and the parking facilities are fairly convenient, the venue itself requires significant upgrades to meet modern standards.
Ventilation is a major concern, with no air conditioning in place, making it quite uncomfortable during long events. The seating, including the front rows reserved for VIPs, is dated and lacks ergonomic comfort. For a space that hosts high-profile performances and distinguished guests, a renovation focused on better comfort, aesthetics, and infrastructure would elevate the experience tremendously.
The charm of the place is undeniable, but with a bit of restoration, it truly has the potential to become a world-class cultural venue.
Deepak Tater Jain (☆ 2/5)

Ravindra Kalakshetra is a iconic cultural center in Bengaluru, India.
– *Architectural Marvel*: The building’s design is a blend of modern and traditional Indian styles, making it a striking landmark.
– *Cultural Hub*: Kalakshetra hosts a wide range of events, from music and dance performances to theater productions and art exhibitions.
– *Performance Venue*: The auditorium provides a world-class space for artists to showcase their talents, with excellent acoustics and seating.
– *Artistic Expression*: Kalakshetra is a platform for creatives to express themselves, experiment with new ideas, and push boundaries.
– *Community Engagement*: The center engages with the local community through workshops, classes, and outreach programs, promoting arts and culture.
– “Ravindra Kalakshetra is a beacon of artistic excellence in Bengaluru.”
– “The perfect blend of tradition and innovation.”
– “A haven for creatives and art enthusiasts alike.”
Rafael Joseph (☆ 5/5)

Recently visited Ravindra Kalakshetra to watch the play “Mukhyamanthri”.
It is located in the heart of Bengaluru and often hosts a wide range of cultural and stage events. The ambience reflects a traditional auditorium vibe, which is nice for performances.
However, the seating arrangement is quite cramped, making it feel claustrophobic, especially during packed events. Ventilation is limited, and with no proper fans or cooling, it tends to get uncomfortably hot inside after a while.
It’s a functional venue, but a few updates in terms of space and comfort would make the experience much better for the audience.

Prestige Centre for Performing Arts offers a truly impressive venue for a wide range of events. The architecture is modern and the scale is genuinely grand, providing a spacious environment that feels welcoming and organised. It’s clear that maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and upkeep is a priority, contributing to a positive atmosphere for attendees.
The comfort of the seating is noteworthy, ensuring excellent visibility of the stage from virtually any location. This, coupled with the generally excellent sound quality, creates an enjoyable experience. The convenient location, with ample parking and access, makes it a preferable choice for many seeking a high-quality event space and a feeling of modern elegance.

Customer Reviews
I have attended multiple events at this venue, including drama performances and musical concerts. The location is very convenient, situated right next to a metro station, and it offers ample car parking, which is a big plus.
The hall itself is spacious with a seating capacity of around 1,200. It is well-maintained and generally provides a comfortable experience. However, I did notice a few drawbacks. Despite the large capacity, the number of elevators is quite limited, which leads to long waiting times—especially inconvenient for elderly attendees.
Another area that could use improvement is the acoustics. In both events I attended, the sound quality was underwhelming, particularly during full-house shows. The audio didn’t carry well, making it harder to enjoy the performance.
Overall, while the venue is impressive in size and convenience, enhancements in accessibility and sound quality would greatly improve the experience for the audience.
Praveen Banavar (☆ 4/5)

This is one of the latest and best venues for any occasion in Bangalore. Extremely well located – within a minute of walking distance from the Konankunte Metro Station, which makes it accessible for people who prefer using public transport instead of flaunting their automobiles. (There is parking available by the way). One can even walk right through the adjoining Forum mall from the Mall’s first floor. The auditorium is huge, with a capacity of over a thousand, with very comfortable seats. One can get an excellent view of the stage from anywhere in the auditorium. The audio system is near perfect. There are well maintained rest rooms, and the corridors are spacious. There is ample space outside for stalls of sponsors promoting the event. A delight to attend programmes in this place (despite the fact that the music programme we attended was not quite as well managed – time wise – by the organisers).
Koduvayur M Harikrishnan (☆ 5/5)

Awesome place with good ambience and seating capacity of about 1200 people. Been there for Samay Raina’s stand-up show. Right behind the Forum mall, clean and well maintained place to enjoy every kind of event with family and friends.
Akash Ambade (☆ 5/5)

I was here for my partner’s convocation ceremony and the auditorium is really big. Can easily seat about 1000 odd people and is very neatly maintained. Plenty of parking space at the basement for both 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers.
Suhas Shandilya (☆ 5/5)

A fantastic venue for events. Clean and spacious. The acoustics and overall aesthetics are top notch. Spacious seats with ample height which prevent obstruction of view from the person seated ahead. Overall an excellent place.
Eatables and drinks are not allowed inside. They only have a small semi-open Starbucks cafe with limited menu. Cafe is unable to cater to small breaks and crowds.
Parv Kaushik (☆ 5/5)

Jain University regularly conducts its convocation ceremony here. I’ve been here twice. The first time was for the sake of attendance. And the second time was during my MBA graduation. It’s a beautiful venue. Very new, quite neat but, the space wasn’t enough I wanted to take a picture of the crowd that attended the event. But, forgot to. CMS B-school batch 2022-24 intake was almost around 900 to 1200 and during convocation we are accompanied by parents, friends and other closed ones so, this place fell short of big time. They had to arrange separate rooms and screen the event for the one’s who came late and didn’t get seats inside. Although the venue has multiple rooms as such but still. It fell short. There’s ample car parking space. Lovely banquet hall and regular maintenance. Ohh ya I also lost my helmet here in the basement parking. Someone stole it. So ya beware of your unlocked belongings that you leave behind in the basement.
Nitin Yadav (☆ 4/5)

Jagriti Theatre presents itself as a fantastic venue for enjoying performances. The facility clearly prioritizes a comfortable experience, offering ample parking and a well-equipped space. The acoustics seem to be well-managed, allowing for clear delivery of dialogue and music. It’s a space that appears to foster a positive atmosphere for both performers and attendees alike.
The provision of a cafe further enhances the overall appeal. It offers a place for socializing and unwinding before or after a show. The emphasis on a welcoming environment and well-maintained facilities makes it a desirable option for anyone seeking a quality theatrical outing. Excellent acoustics and convenient parking are defining aspects.

The ambiance was delightful, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The sound system delivered excellent audio quality, ensuring every punchline was crystal clear. A great place to witness theatre and other acts. A beautiful and cozy venue which feels so much like home.
Definitely worth a visit.
Parv Kaushik (☆ 5/5)

We have performed four shows here in 2023 – a very well orchestrated theatre. Good seating capacity of around 190 and good tech rider specifications. They have extensively big green rooms for artists and ample parking space. Sound proofing and black box design is also one of the best in Bangalore!
Rahul T R (☆ 5/5)

Horrible experience with this theatre. You are not allowing people into the theatre who has come even one minute late. Responsible for the lose of all money and time we have spent to come here, to book the tickets of the family members. We have not come here to see your manager’s drama here. Here in Bangalore where we can’t avoid traffic and can’t even estimate the time who are coming from electronic City or Banashankari. More over you are not allowing group members also. And the most importantly, the manager Disha Rao doesn’t know even when is the break time. She misguided us even now when this is the second show of the day of the same group same theatre performance. You have total mismanagement from your side and on top of that horrible bullshit policies.

Extremely rude , didn’t allow us because we were late by 10 minutes. Better to avoid. A technical manager named Manoj was extremely rude, threatened to call cops and behaved very badly. No paying customer should have to put up this kind of behaviour.

The decoration was so good then my expectations and the entrance was awesome with fogs and snacks. Over all it’s a worthy place to celebrate any kind of celebration.

I had a very disappointing experience. The staff member present was unwilling to take even a single group photo, despite our requests. We had clearly communicated our requirements in advance, yet several things were missed. Every time we asked for something, we were told it wasn’t included in the package and required extra payment—which we were willing to make. However, the lack of basic courtesy and hospitality made the entire experience unpleasant. Definitely one of the worst service experiences!
Nagarathna Chandru (☆ 1/5)

Ever had a worst experience and these people are just sitting to mint money with no point.
“This was by far the worst experience I’ve had. The service was unprofessional, the quality was disappointing, and the entire process was frustrating from start to finish. I expected better but was met with nothing but delays, poor communication, and a complete lack of care. I would not recommend this to anyone.”
And literally the place owners calls people coming here as dog and there is a girl who acts more or less like cheap and the man who handles is just unprofessional and more faking Altime on service to customer which in return there is nothing please don’t ever go here I request because you will feel the same way I felt..!!

A great place to begin your theatre journey!
TheatreNama offers a perfect blend of serious learning and a fun & supportive environment. It’s a ideal destination for the artist who want to stepping into the world of Hindi and English theatre, with opportunities to not just learn but also perform in plays. What truly stands out is the woman-friendly and safe space they have created-respectful, inclusive and empowering. If you are passionate about acting or curious to explore theatre, this is the place to be.
This is my own experience and this is what I personally feel. 🙂
Antima Vijay (☆ 5/5)

I stumbled upon this place when I was in dire search for a place which could not just give path to my potential but also polish my approach to not just a better actor but a better person. Here is where I can be completely myself & hence explore my limits without any hesitation. I met people from all walks of life and all age groups come together under one roof to create magic on stage.
This place bestows enough confidence in freshers to debut them on stage, who after their performance goes home with immense satisfaction & 10 times more self confident.
The weekend workshop is the backbone to the actors performing their best. We explore every aspect of stage & screen acting with interesting exercises. The format is flexible and it doesn’t come in the way of your profession or personal plans. Whether you are an aspiring actor or exploring your ability to act, this place is sure to give you something to go back with.

I have had a wonderful time learning and practicing theatre here! Getting into the world of theatre and acting can come across as extremely daunting, but Theatrenama manages to make it easier and allows you to approach it at your own pace.
I would highly recommend this place if you’re thinking about getting started with your own journey in the beautiful world of theatre!
Tejaswini J (☆ 5/5)

I discovered Theatrenama while visiting family in Bangalore from Sweden, and it changed my life! I had never tried theatre before, but from my very first demo class, I felt an amazing energy and a warm, judgment-free space. The best part is that Theatrenama doesn’t force you to follow any specific style. Instead, it encourages you to find your own creative voice at your own pace.
After just three months of workshops, I achieved something I never thought possible: I performed at Jagriti Theatre for Pocketmaar Drama Company! As a complete beginner, this was a huge milestone for me. I owe it all to the support and motivation from Aashish Rana (a.k.a Bawa) Founder and Director of Theatrenama and the guidance of Vatsal Baran (director of Pocketmaar).
If I could do it, you can too! Step out of your comfort zone and discover the artist within you at Theatrenama.
Kalpana Dubey (☆ 5/5)

The best place to learn and indulge in Hindi Theatre in Bangalore. Safe space for women as well, and the community is more like family. Been more than a year and this community has given me so many opportunities to learn and grow. We get chances to learn from renowned theatre artists like Prasanna Sir, Sandeep Shikhar Sir, Sagnik Sir etc, apart from the regular workshops. The curriculum is ever evolving to accommodate the dynamic learning model. It is also hybrid and you can perform and learn at the same time.
I have been a part of over 9 Productions and around 30+ shows, I couldn’t ask for a better place to be at after office. Theatre is my passion and thestrenama helps me to live it with my full time corporate job ❤️
My week is incomplete without Theatrenama
Bhavya Bhuwal (☆ 5/5)

A superb place to get introduced to the art of theatre. It’s a community of practice with folks who are passionate about theatre, story telling and self-discovery. The teaching style (of the theatre veteran Bawa, a.k.a. Ashish Rana) is great and introduces the students to theory as well practice of theatre. The guest trainers are also an added highlight, e.g., a Sangeet Naatak Akademi award winner Anil Ranjan Bhowmick, Priyanshu Mishra, etc.). Freshers are encouraged to participate in plays which are staged at the best places around town. TheatreNama is a unique initiative in Hindi Drama and a need of the hour!
arjun beri (☆ 5/5)

This is a place where your passion meets education to set higher standards in your acting career. Whether you want to act only in theatre or even in front of the camera, the workshop provided by Theatrenama teaches all the techniques(both inside and outside the scene work ) that help you gain more control over your craft. The focus of the training workshop here is to make a controlled and versatile actor . They help you explore different types of acting and also touch the entire spectrum of the craft.
Lastly, the community is welcoming and friendly. Be it the trainer, directors or senior actors all of them contribute towards one’s journey of higher learning. Each day is a learning day here in all the dimensions – acting, discipline, team work ,etc.

Hidden jewel!! This is a wonderful place for drama and performing arts. Truly is a jewel hidden in the heart of the city where many are unaware of the beautiful & extraordinary drama and arts offered to kids and adults. Cosy place with wonderful set up for drama and performing arts. The minimum age criteria for kids are about 5 years and I have recommended this place to a lot of parents…. Try it out…. Surprisingly it’s above to hospital!
Bit difficult to spot the place but google maps will get you there accurately.
Parking:
Car parking is a dream but two wheeler will adjust somewhere in the sub roads.
Middle hall which can accommodate around 80-100.
Seats are old and uncomfortable for longer term.
Good audio output for some standup comedy.

We attended a stand up comedy show here called Tharle Nan Maga by Dilip Shankar and it was a fantastic show. I especially loved how interactive both the comedians were, on the show and even after it.
Talking about the venue, it’s so hard to believe that there exists such an amazing stage right about Lenus Hospital where I was admitted for a week due to Covid.
The show was definitely well organized and the place itself is fantastic. Special thanks to Gautam, thanks to whom we were introduced to this place. We really are looking forward to coming here for more shows and events in the future.

Opera House Open Theater offers a unique retail environment. The space itself is impressive, designed to showcase a wide array of Samsung products. The layout suggests a dedication to providing consumers with an immersive, hands-on experience, making exploring the latest technology relatively easy.
While the focus appears to be heavily weighted towards mobile devices and computing, the atmosphere is quite pleasant. A visit would allow someone to familiarize themselves with the newest offerings and potentially get assistance from staff, although, service availability seems to be the main point. The location provides easy access but parking arrangements should be verified in advance.

The thing which caught our(friends) attention was the music, it was the Classical Shastriya* Music by the Unnati* Band. One of the best experiences. it made our day.
And of course, Samsung has put all of its product, showcasing their advanced technology and usefulness.

A lovely architectural masterpiece housing a wide variety of Samsung products.
The staff is quite helpful and knowledgeable.
We were looking for a fridge but they didn’t have a wide range of refrigerators available.
Overall the focus seems a lot more on phones and personal computing.
The parking is on the street and is paid.

Brought 2 Samsung A73 phones. The green line issue occurred after the OS update. The authorized service center says only S-Series phones are eligible for free solution, and no solutions are available for A73. It’s evident the issue is intentionally introduced to cheat customers as part of the OS update. How can there be a free solution for S-Series and not for other products, especially the ones that have Samsung commitment to at least 4 major OS updates.

Most un-professional, un-ethical service center. I had gotten my s23 Ultra’s display changed. They have damaged the S pen and are now not owning up to their mistakes. Do check your phones thoroughly and click photos before handing it to them

Located at a very prime street around the intersection. Nice ambience but no proper boards to indicate which is entry, exit and parking. No clear access to Starbucks highlighted properly.
Manjunath Muttalgeri (☆ 4/5)

Went here for a screen gaurd replacement and waited 20 minutes to find out it is out of stock from one month.
Also, the service upstairs is too bad with no proper que system where the wait time was more than 1 hour for green line issue.
You are better off buying from your local store and repairs from HSR

Wonderful learning experience with WeMove’s Big Step Intensive course. The faculties are themselves very talented and experienced actors + directors. I not only learnt the basic + intermediate principles and techniques of acting but also punctuality, sincerity, communication, leadership and management skills. I could feel a change in me and my personality. I definitely have gained some confidence after completing this workshop and performing plays with them.
Moreover I made such a beautiful and family like relationships with colleagues and instructors that I’ll always be grateful for. The memories I have made will be cherished forever. Thank you.

The scene encompasses a wide spectrum to cater to varying tastes.
Where are the main theaters and performance venues located?
Several theaters and performance venues are prominent. The National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) hosts large-scale productions, while Ranga Shankara is known for its focus on contemporary theatre and nurturing emerging artists. You'll also find performances at locations like the Alliance Française, Bangalore Little Theatre, and various auditoriums within colleges and cultural centers.
How much do tickets typically cost?
Ticket prices vary widely based on the production, venue, and seating arrangement. Generally, tickets for performances at the NCPA or for internationally renowned artists can be significantly more expensive, often ranging from ₹500 to ₹3000 or higher. Performances at smaller theaters and those focusing on emerging artists tend to have more affordable options, often between ₹200 and ₹800. Discounts and early bird offers can also impact pricing.
When is the best time to attend a performance?
The timing of performances depends on the venue and the production schedule. Many theaters have regular schedules, including evening performances on weekdays and matinee and evening shows on weekends. However, it’s always advisable to check the venue's website or social media pages for the most up-to-date schedule and ticket availability. The cooler months (October to February) are generally considered the most pleasant time to attend outdoor performances.
How can I purchase tickets?
Tickets can usually be purchased through several channels. Many venues have online ticketing platforms where you can buy tickets directly. You can also check popular ticketing websites and apps. Some theaters offer box office sales, but it’s always best to confirm availability in advance. Purchasing early is recommended, especially for popular events.

Accessibility options vary by venue. Many theaters are now making efforts to improve accessibility, including wheelchair access, accessible restrooms, and audio description for visually impaired audiences. It’s essential to contact the venue directly in advance to inquire about specific accessibility provisions and to arrange any necessary accommodations. Reserved seating may also be available.
How can I support the performing arts scene in Bangalore?
There are several ways to support the performing arts. Attend performances regularly, of course! Consider becoming a season ticket holder or a member of a theater group.
