Today, I attended a resin art workshop at Art Beat, where I created a beautiful clock, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience! The ambiance of the place is warm and inspiring, making it a perfect spot to explore your creative side.
The people at Art Beat are incredibly welcoming and friendly. My session was conducted by Jinal, who was extremely sweet, calm, and patient. She explained every step of the process in a clear and encouraging way, which made the session enjoyable and easy to follow, even for a beginner like me.
While I was there, I noticed several other workshops happening simultaneously, which shows how vibrant and active the space is. They host daily sessions at different times, so there is always something interesting going on.
I absolutely loved the time I spent there. If you are looking to try something new and creative, I would definitely recommend giving Art Beat a visit!

We had the most amazing resin beach art workshop with Rajeev at Art Beat. It was so well organised, fun, and therapeutic. I don’t know where 2 hours just went by and would recommend this to everyone. I am a beginner at art myself and that was never something that interfered with the workshop. Everything was explained as many times as I’d need to understand.
Love the vibe. The art. The place. The people, especially Rajeev and ofcourse super glad that I get to take my beautiful art home with me.

I recently attended the Bottle Decoupage Workshop with ArtBeat, and it was such a fulfilling and relaxing experience! The session was beautifully organized — from the materials provided to the clear, step-by-step guidance. Even as a beginner, I felt completely at ease and supported throughout the process.
The instructor was patient, creative, and super helpful in answering all our questions and encouraging us to explore our own artistic flair. I walked away not just with a beautifully upcycled bottle, but also a new skill that I’m excited to keep practicing.
Highly recommend this workshop for anyone looking to try something new, de-stress, or just spend a few creative hours doing something fun and meaningful!

A Perfect Beginning to Your Pottery Journey
If you’ve ever wanted to learn pottery, this workshop is an absolute gem. Over the course of 10 classes (3 hours each), you’re taken on a well-structured, fun, and surprisingly meditative journey into the craft.
The first couple of sessions ease you in with hand-building exercises, letting you understand the clay’s personality before moving on to the wheel. The next 7 sessions are all about throwing — each class building your confidence and skill until, in the final session, you face the ultimate challenge: creating a piece blindfolded. It’s a fun, yet intense, and magical moment that truly proves just how effective Sanchit’s training and guidance are. Somehow, your best work emerges when you can’t even see it.
The studio itself is stunning — bright, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. It’s a space where you can completely switch off from the outside world, focus on the clay, and leave each class feeling accomplished and relaxed.
This isn’t just a pottery class, it’s an experience that stays with you. You walk away not only with beautiful pieces you’ve created, but also with skills and memories that will last a lifetime.

We booked a 3-hour pottery session and happened to be the only participants. The staff was friendly and informative, starting with a short intro before moving on to working with the wheel. We each got to try making a couple of pieces, and the instructor was helpful and patient throughout. Overall, a decent session if you’re curious about pottery and want a beginner-friendly introduction.

I recently attended the Encaustic Art Workshop at Studio Chhavi, and I have to say—it was an absolutely incredible experience! I went in with zero knowledge about encaustic painting (which, by the way, is an ancient technique using molten beeswax and pigments), but by the end of the session, I had created my own artwork and was completely hooked on this unique art form.
What Made This Workshop Special?
From the moment I stepped into Studio Chhavi, the vibe was warm, creative, and inspiring. The setup was perfect for a hands-on art session, with all the materials provided, so all I had to do was immerse myself in the process. The moment I started melting the wax and layering the colors, I realized how therapeutic and deeply satisfying this art form is. The textures, the depth, the way the pigments interact with the wax—it’s honestly like painting with fire and magic!
The Instructor – The Best Part!
The heart of the workshop was Priyanka Agarwal, an artist with years of experience and a true passion for encaustic art. She made sure everyone, from absolute beginners (like me) to more experienced artists, felt comfortable experimenting. She explained everything so patiently—from the basics of working with molten wax to advanced layering techniques. Her guidance was hands-on, and she gave personalized tips that really helped me feel confident in what I was creating.
Why You Should Go?
• No prior experience needed – You’ll learn from scratch and leave with a finished artwork!
• Super fun and therapeutic – The process itself is so mesmerizing and calming.
• Expert guidance – Priyanka is an amazing mentor who ensures you actually learn, not just follow instructions.
• You create something truly unique – The textures and effects in encaustic painting are like no other medium!
If you’ve been wanting to try something different and creatively fulfilling, I highly recommend this workshop. Whether you love art or just want to spend a few hours doing something fun and hands-on, this experience is worth it.
Would I do it again? Absolutely!

All the reviews are accurate- this studio is beautiful, peaceful, tucked away in a green and quiet corner of Koramangala, and the daylong Sunday beginners class was so much fun!
Their classes are well structured and paced. Kavitha was a wonderfully patient and positive teacher! After such a good first experience, I’m considering some of the longer term courses offered here… their workshops may seem pricey but they’re truly worth it for the ambience and memories, as well as the self-created artwork you can fire and take home.

I thoroughly loved the experience of playing with clay.. what looked like an easy job of rolling the dough ended up demanding more muscle power from me. Working with hands always has a joyful, gratifying effect on me and that’s what this experience did for me. Getting to know about slab technique, a peek into the wheeling, never ending wedging process was something I got an idea today. This was my first experience with clay in a professional setup, so thank you Arunima for guiding us through this process and sharing your love for pottery with us.

I had a fabulous experience at Maati Sona Pottery Studio’s 5-weekend beginner’s pottery course in March 2024. This program included hand building techniques (pinching, coiling, slab work) and wheel throwing (cylinders, bowls, plates) modules. Arunima, ceramicist and owner of Maati Sona, has a wealth of knowledge and patience to guide students through every aspect of working and moulding clay. She was able to give each of us individual attention and was always eager to respond to our many doubts about technique, materials, process, colours, and so on. Assisting us throughout the course was studio assistant and potter Basha bhai, who was ever attentive and patient. I would highly recommend signing up for beginner’s pottery at Maati Sona, you not only learn a new art form, but also discover inner qualities of your self. The studio is located in a popular area at HSR Layout and has some wonderful pottery for purchase. Do check it out!

I went with my Wife for a Ganesha Idol making workshop. I was initially nervous as both of us do not have any experience with Pottery. The place itself was nice and cozy. Ritu was very kind and patient with us, helped us and guided us very well throughout the process . It was a 3 hour workshop but we took over 4.5 hours as it was so fun and Ritu helped us with any ideas we had . We are very happy with the Ganesha Idols we made. Overall a very amazing experience .

Mud Effects Pottery Studio has truly been a transformative experience for me. Falling in love with pottery was inevitable, thanks to this incredible place! Ritu is a remarkable teacher. She guided me through my beginners one and two courses. Her adept teaching style and encouragement to explore allowed me to grasp the right techniques and embrace experimentation. My journey here has been nothing short of amazing.
The Studio provides both wheel throwing and hand building courses. For those who may have reservations about diving into pottery, there’s an option to participate in a 2-hour weekend session. This allows you to roll up your sleeves, dive in, and discover the world of pottery firsthand.
The studio also offers excellent glazing and firing services, which I frequently use. The quality of their work is top-notch, and the pricing is reasonable.
I’m attaching a few snapshots of my learnings at Mud Effects, showcasing the pieces that I’ve crafted under Ritu’s guidance.

WHAT THEHEEBEE SAYS ABOUT MUD EFFECTS POTTERY STUDIO
We had visited Mud Effects Pottery studio few months back. Our visit was primarily as we wanted our daughter to experience the basic pottery. We traveled all the way from Bannerghatta Road (near Meenakshi Mall) to Whitefield for this experience, and it was worth the effort and time.
Mud Effects Pottery Studio is located in the busy locality of Whitefield, on top floor of an apartment complex. Though located in the busy locality, it provides the much needed peace to connect to the nature through pottery.
The tutor is very good in the pottery art and teaches children with a lot of attention and encouragement. The clay and other equipment uses are of good quality.
Mud Effects Pottery Studio is one of those places that will help our children to understand the fun associated with rustic art. It is one of those places that will help children get connected to the nature and have fun sans gadgets.
I feel that we need more of such art studios across the city.

My experience learning pottery with Ritu has been amazing. I have done the basic level of both handmade and wheel throwing and can’t wait to learn more. Ritu’s cute studio has the “artist” vibe and the perfect learning atmosphere. Ritu makes sure she explains things in detail with little tips that help one learn the art quickly and well. She is very easy going and yet at the same time very professional. Learning pottery has personally been a wonderful experience for me and when you get to take your pieces home ,the feeling of achievement is unbeatable. Thanks Ritu for this experience ,can’t wait to learn more

I’m on a work trip and browsed through some fun activities to do over the weekend. Luckily ended up here! I took Ritu’s beginners 2-hour session and it was awesome! We had a fun crew of 5 other folks. Ritu walked us through the process for 10 min and we were on our own! She walked around to help throughout and was very patient with us. The session felt so therapeutic! Highly recommend giving it a try on your next free weekend 🙂

It was a great start to learning pottery. The studio is nice and cozy equipped with all you need to learn also Ritu is a great teacher. She’s extremely patient and friendly which makes is easier for beginners.
In the beginners course you get to work with red clay (terracotta) and learn techniques like centring and pulling. You get to make a bunch of different things like cups, bowls, plates, etc.
The progress you makes if you put in the effort and focus is really satisfying. I would recommend Mud effects studio to anyone who’s interested in pottery

had such a wonderful experience at this pottery studio! The atmosphere is incredibly calm and peaceful — the kind of place where you instantly feel relaxed and inspired.
Mr. Balakrishna is genuinely friendly and welcoming.
One thing I really appreciated was how efficient the firing process was — my ceramic pieces were ready much sooner than expected, without compromising on quality. The studio is well-organised, with a great selection of tools and materials, and it’s clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining the space.
Whether you’re a beginner or someone with experience, I’d highly recommend this studio. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, create, and connect with clay in the most peaceful setting.

This is a good place to start and off when diving into clay.
I personally liked Balu’s clam, patient approach to teaching clay. He shares just enough details to understand finer aspects of the material in theory, hand building techniques as well as practically throwing on wheel.
Loved my time here, Balu. All the very best for Yogam.

What a nice experience. We were looking for a way of healing ourselves and found this place that provided us a sense of calmness. This is such an awesome place set up by Balu.

Balakrishna (Balu) has been a great teacher for the beginners course that I opted for. He was very informative for all things ceramics and answered each and every during the course with finer details.
The beginners course introduces you to hand building techniques ( Pinch, Coil & Slab ) which will help you set up the basics of pottery, followed by throwing around 500 gms of clay on the wheel and creating a cylinder out of it.
In addition to the above clay handling techniques, we’re also made familiar with attaching clay pieces together using Score & Slip, sanding the clay pieces post Bisque/first firing, glazing.
And not to forget the plethora of tools which can evolve your art further. The studio is a cosy space with lots of beautiful collections to view and even buy some listed for sale.
There’s ample parking on the street, both sides since it’s a wide road. Also, it’s a busy road in heart of Yelahanka, so public commute/ola is not a worry. Mind that the studio is on 2nd floor and has access via stairs, enroute which you’ll be greeted by a lovely husky at 1st level. The funny thing is she starts to lick your hand as soon as you pat her or even spread out your hand from the gate.
The course becomes even wonderful with the other learners, our batch for May was one such and enjoyed it very well.
Balu’s hospitality to incorporate your suggestions or to make sure you’re accustomed well with the clay is also incredible.

Introduction to Pottery Wheel Throwing
Many ceramic classes begin with an introduction to pottery wheel throwing. This fundamental skill involves learning to center clay on the wheel, pull up walls, and shape basic forms. Students typically receive instruction on wheel maintenance and clay preparation.
Hand-Building Techniques (Pinch, Coil, Slab)
Beyond wheel throwing, ceramic classes frequently cover hand-building techniques. These techniques, including pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction, allow for a wider range of creative possibilities and sculptural forms. Emphasis is placed on structural integrity and surface decoration.
Glazing and Firing Processes
A core component of ceramic education is understanding glazing and firing processes. Students learn about glaze chemistry, application methods (dipping, brushing, spraying), and the importance of proper kiln firing schedules to achieve desired effects on their ceramic pieces.
Sculptural Ceramics
For those interested in three-dimensional art, ceramic classes offer instruction in sculptural ceramics. This involves learning to construct complex forms using various techniques, including modeling, carving, and combining different ceramic elements.
Raku Firing Workshops
Certain ceramic classes provide opportunities to participate in Raku firing workshops. Raku firing is a unique and dramatic firing technique that produces unpredictable and often stunning results, involving rapid temperature changes and reduction atmospheres.
Functional Ceramics (Mugs, Bowls, Plates)
Many students are interested in creating functional ceramics, such as mugs, bowls, and plates. Classes focused on functional ware often emphasize design considerations for usability, durability, and aesthetics.
Surface Decoration Techniques (Slip, Underglazes, Mishima)
Classes often cover surface decoration techniques to enhance the visual appeal of ceramic pieces. These can include slip trailing, underglaze painting, and Mishima firing (a technique involving inlaid clay).
Specialized Clay Body Exploration
More advanced ceramic classes might explore specialized clay body exploration. This involves learning about different clay types – porcelain, stoneware, earthenware – and how their properties impact the final outcome and firing processes.
Frequently Asked Questions about Ceramic Classes in Bangalore
What types of ceramic techniques are typically taught in Bangalore classes?
Ceramic classes in Bangalore frequently cover a variety of techniques, including hand-building methods like pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction. Many also introduce wheel throwing – learning to shape clay on a pottery wheel. Some advanced classes might cover glaze application, surface decoration, and even firing processes.
Are ceramic classes suitable for absolute beginners?
Ceramic classes in Bangalore are generally designed to be accessible to absolute beginners. Most introductory courses assume no prior experience and focus on foundational skills. Instructors typically provide thorough demonstrations and step-by-step guidance to help students learn the basics comfortably.
What is the typical duration and frequency of ceramic classes?
The duration and frequency of classes vary depending on the course level and the instructor. Introductory classes can range from a few one-day workshops to multi-week courses meeting once or twice a week. More advanced classes may involve longer sessions and more frequent meetings to allow for greater complexity in projects.
What equipment and materials will I need to bring to a class?
Typically, ceramic classes provide most of the necessary equipment and materials, including clay, tools, and glazes. However, some instructors may ask students to bring old clothes or an apron as working with clay can be messy. Check with the class provider for a specific list of requirements.
How much do ceramic classes in Bangalore usually cost?
The cost of ceramic classes in Bangalore varies considerably based on the class duration, level, and the studio's overhead. Introductory workshops might cost around ₹1500-₹3000, while longer courses can range from ₹5000 to ₹15000 or more. It’s important to compare prices and offerings from different studios.
Are there age restrictions for participating in ceramic classes?

Typically, classes for young children (ages 5-10) are available with parental supervision, while more advanced courses are geared towards ages 12 and older. Always confirm age restrictions with the class provider.
What is the best way to choose a ceramic class or studio?
When selecting a ceramic class, consider factors like the instructor's experience, the studio's reputation, the class size, and the offered techniques. Look for reviews and testimonials from other students. Visiting the studio to observe a class can also provide valuable insight. Consider what specific skills you want to acquire.
What happens to the finished pieces after the class? Can I take them home?
Most studios handle the firing of the ceramic pieces after the class. Typically, students can collect their finished pieces within a specified timeframe, usually a few weeks, depending on the firing schedule. There might be a small fee associated with firing if it’s not included in the class fee.
What level of physical fitness is required for ceramic classes?
While ceramic classes aren’t intensely physical, they do require a degree of dexterity and hand strength. Wheel throwing, in particular, can be physically demanding for some. It is useful to have a comfortable level of hand and arm strength. It's advisable to consult the instructor if you have any physical concerns.
Can I find classes that focus on specific styles of pottery or ceramic art?
Yes, Bangalore offers a range of ceramic classes catering to different interests. You can find classes specializing in techniques like Raku firing, wood firing, or functional pottery. Searching online or contacting studios directly can help you locate classes that align with your desired artistic focus.
