Its a Music school cum open mic, a nice spot for performers and audiences alike. The space isn’t very large, seating is available for just over 50 people but that’s typical for open mic venues and adds to the intimate atmosphere. The crowd is usually decent, and the host keeps things engaging.

Open mics are held here on Saturdays and Sundays. If you’d like to perform, you can either pre-book your ticket in advance or simply book it when you arrive; it’s generally not overcrowded, so getting a spot—whether as a performer or an audience member—isn’t difficult.

On other days, the space functions as a music school where you can learn instruments like drums and guitar. This dual use of the venue makes it feel very creative and welcoming.

Overall, it’s a good place if you’re looking to showcase your talent, enjoy performances in a cozy setting, or even explore learning music.

My school of rock is an amazing place to sing your heart out and get along with friends and make new ones. The music setup in insane and the vibe is very warm and welcoming. I would love to go since more often thanks to my school of rock !

Punith is a star. As a first timer on drums, I was very apprehensive on how my first session would turn out since i was completely new to the instrument. Punith made me super comfortable and was incredibly patient and motivating with me. He not only taught me the basics in one session – but we actually did a song by the end of it too! Was a lot of fun!

I recently attended a music workshop, and it was a great experience. Having learned the harmonium, I always felt a bit lost when it came to understanding certain aspects of the piano. Punith, our instructor, explained the chords and notes in such a simple and clear way that everything started making sense. Thanks to this workshop, I feel more confident, and I think the next time I try an instrument, it will be much easier for me to understand.

It was great experience in My School of Rock. This was my first open mic, not only audience but host Punith were supportive during the complete show. It’s certainly the right place if you’re thinking of stage to showcsse your performance.

I attended their 90 min workshop. Given that I had never touched a drum set in my entire life, i was able to play decentish at the end of the class. The teacher was incredibly patient and nice. I would totally recommend coming and taking classes here.

I recently attended a demo session for Carnatic vocal music, and I must say the trainer Vasantha was excellent in mentoring. It’s slightly more than a year since I enrolled for the piano classes and it’s been a great experience. John is a fantastic teacher, very knowledgable about music. He constructively encourages his students to get better and better. There’s something new to learn each week.
To all those who are interested to learn music, I would definitely recommend learning at John’s Music Classes.

I did the 4-month Beginner Guitar Course with John.

Pros:
1. Structure: The course starts from scratch, from as basic as understanding the parts of a guitar. It has an optimal mix of theory and practicals
2. Pace: There is a gradual build-up of knowledge across sixteen 2-hour sessions. Every class has a pre-defined agenda and is worth the time. John never fails to stop to answer questions in detail and yet keeps the pace on track
3. Quality of Teaching: John’s crystal clear and engaging teaching style goes well across ages, be it a 6th grader or a 50+ year old (there were both in my batch). John’s ‘live singing’, being a vocals teacher as well, improves the learning and fun quotient significantly
4. Understanding the ‘Why’: While YouTube videos stress on the ‘How’, with John, one gets to learn the ‘Why’. This learning is rare (and is John’s forte and USP). This helps to build a rock solid foundation in learning
5. Rigour: John has a no-nonsense approach of giving homework every week (which he diligently checks). This ensures students practice/ revise notes between classes. He leaves no stone unturned to enable every student to max the learnings
6. Inclusivity: John hand holds the weakest student of the class to get him/ her up to speed, very patiently at that. His focus is more on them than the ones who get it
7. No Delegation: Unlike in other institutes where beginner courses are usually delegated to a less experienced teacher/ senior student, John personally teaches every class despite his decades of teaching experience
8. Flexibility: Given the simultaneous online and offline mode of teaching in every class, one gets to choose either of them in the last minute, without any prior intimation
9. Going Beyond: John’s deep-rooted passion and incredible knowledge makes him share so many fascinating nuggets of information from the world of music. He creates an ambience of awe and respect towards music
10. What Next: In the best interest of music at large, John totally leaves it to the student to decide on what next (beyond the Beginner Course). There is absolutely no push to take up his Intermediate Course

Cons:
1. Nasty traffic, the class being located in the heart of an immensely (and always) busy market area. Parking is a nightmare unless you are on a 2-wheeler
2. Classes are on the expensive side compared to others in Bangalore
3. The course does not link to Trinity exams for guitar

The pros clearly outweigh the cons, making this a MUST DO course.

I have been going to John sir’s classes on and off for years now, and I absolutely adore everything about his class environment and teaching style. I have attended vocal and piano classes, both of which I have thoroughly enjoyed. He is incredibly patient with each student and really takes into account every person’s abilities and progress.
I have not been able to attend classes for a while now due to personal commitments, but I am eager to join again and I always recommend it to others looking to learn music!

I enrolled in the beginner’s guitar class here, and I must say, John has a great way of teaching, especially music theory and techniques. His classes are engaging, with interesting analogies and anecdotes. Even in a group setting—whether in person or online—you still get individual attention.

Excellent music school in and around HSR Layout. My son is learning Guitar from past 2 year. Teachers and staffs all are very co-operative. They will give personal attention to each and every child. They are providing grade exams from Trinity and ABRSM for international recognitions. If student miss the class due to unavoidable circumstances they will provide compensation classes. We are extremely happy about Trishan School of Music.

Trishan school is a good place to learn music. They follow the Trinity syllabus for keyboard and have a systematic approach to teaching music. Terence sir is knowledgeable and encouraging. He teaches with patience when students struggle with a piece. Overall, my experience is positive and would like to continue learning here.

Trishan is one of the best places to learn music, I’ve been attending western classical violin with them and i can see the transformation evidently of how well I’m turning out, Master Koheni teaches so patiently right from, learning to read sheet music, intonation, rhythm, slurs etc

Trishan School is providing very good training in music. I am learning the Keyboard and my tutor Mr Terence is very good. He makes my learning very comfortable and pleasant. Also the institute provides convenience in adjusting our sessions at times when we are unable to take our regular class.

We joined 4 months ago for Hindustani Classical Vocals and don’t regret it at all. The school is professional in its approach and our teacher is amazing. He’s specially good with the kids and encourages everyone to get better.

He himself is doing his Masters in Music and it shows in the quality of singing he teaches. We are very happy with the classes and my son’s enthusiasm for his classes every weekend is simply contagious

Trishan School of Music is a very professionally run institution for those who are truly passionate about learning music and various musical instruments. My 6 year-old kid has been attending the western vocals class as a beginner under Ayushi Ma’am for a few months now and we can notice the difference in him already. Managing small kids as well as adults together in a single class is quite a delicate balancing act and the teacher has been patiently handling them all. Since each batch has a limited number of students only, they all get personalised attention as well. The teachers openly share the expectations and the feedback regarding the progress periodically.

Their admin team who works behind the scenes are quite responsive too and helps address queries and accommodates genuine requests quickly making it a wonderful experience!

My 5 year old kid joined Sangeet Sadhana few months back. Since then it has been wonderful journey so far. It started with Orientation classes for a month where the basics were introduced and kids were made accustomed to the pedagogy and environment. Just in couple of months, my kid learnt few ragas and started reciting them at home. Also he has become more cheerful and calm.

It has been satisfying to say that he is at the right place at right point of time to gain experience and skills in Hindustani vocals.

I’ve been learning Hindustani classical music here for about 3–4 months now, and I’ve had such a good experience so far. I came in with the intention of making my rhythm guitar playing better, but after joining the institute I was able to explore there was so much more to guitar, and music in general that interests me! I was so enamoured that I ended up joining westerns vocals as well. Been a student here for more than 20 weeks and the journey has been very transformative. I am able to play most of what I have always wanted to and much more! (In addition to that, you see a lot of passion in the teachers here when it comes to their instruments and music in general.
