I recently completed my first Tanjore painting of Lord Ganesha.

As a complete beginner, I had a wonderful experience attending the offline class. This was my first experience with this traditional art form, and I was amazed at how detailed and beautiful the process is.

Vibha, Spoorthy, Yashaswini were very supportive and explained each step clearly from preparing and applying the gesso to gold foil application and intricate detailing.
This offline class allowed us for hands-on learning and immediate corrections, which was very helpful, especially for a beginner like me.

One of the worst art class in Bangalore. I am not sure how he got 5 star reviews.

– During the class hours he smokes and comes to the class and smells very bad when he talks
– Now he shifted the class to his house, where two dogs are there. Those are washed by weekly or monthly and that smells also very bad
– During classes he plays youtube videos with full sound which distract the students
– He uses sharp pencil to hit kids on their hands, stomachs etc.,
– He doesn’t behave as a normal person
– He is money minded person, there is no proper course schedules. So he knows the tricks how to keep the students for his monthly income
– As a teacher he doesn’t listen to kids ideas, when the kids express their ideas, he says Am I the teacher or are you the teacher.
– He is having lots of head-weight, thinking that he is the guru of Arts
– Don’t leave your kids alone here, it is not safe place
– My kids complaints, they forgot the arts what they learned from their childhood after attending this class
– There are more to say, but it is 100% waste and worthless. Don’t waste your money here. Re-think.

Chitrakala Parishat is a renowned school of art in Bangalore, with an enviable alumni list. Located in a tree-lined campus, CKP — as it is popularly known — has a museum, a store and a gallery worth visiting. The gallery has rotating exhibits while the museum has permanent displays of paintings and crafts. CKP comes alive during its much-awaited fests: the annual Handicraft Mela and the Chitra Santhe (art market), both of which provide outlets for artists and craftsmen.

Visit this place when there is an art retrospective of KG Subramanian going on. There are so many options to shop and indulge in. You can easily spend a ton of time and money at this place. Definitely recommend it if you are interested in buying local Indian handicrafts or clothes at reasonable prices.

A must-visit place if you’re keen on art and paintings. I visited this place back in February where there was a major arts exhibition during the month. Be it the main gallery or basement floor gallery, the craftsmanship is seen in all the paintings. They do have paintings for sale which might cost you a lot for the bigger canvas and vice versa. The other main attraction is the handicrafts and colorful textiles of various states of India sold in the exhibition stalls (flea market).

Very beautiful place. Many kinds of stalls available varying from accessories, clothes and handicrafts. Even beautiful paintings are there with excellent craftsmanship.

Loved the artworks here, I’d suggest for a better greenspace maintenance. And even more initiatives towards art schools/ colleges. But overall I loved the place and will keep visiting for sure.

When it comes to art collection, this is the must visit place in Bangalore. Artworks from all over the world have made their home in the heart of the city. Besides artworks and paintings, one can get good stuff for home decor, textiles, hand embroidered kurtis, cushion covers and bed spreads, handmade articles, brass / wooden items, jewelry, antique pieces from various parts of the country. There are various exhibition stalls available for various articles. A minimum of half day can be spent in just going through the display. Renovation work is also going on parallelly. So don’t know what surprise is awaiting for my next visit.

I am so pleased with my son’s progress in the sketching classes! In just three weeks, he’s gone from basics to really impressive improvements. The teachers have been incredibly supportive and flexible with timings, which i truly appreciate. The nominal fee is also a huge plus. We always look forward to these drawing classes during vacations!

Absolutely love this drawing class! The teachers have master’s degrees in arts and really know their stuff — they’re great at explaining details and super patient while teaching. They start from basics which helps understanding in a deeper level. I never thought I would like pencil sketch so much but the way Ms. Ramya is teaching and her techniques are very easy to learn. Honest Feedback on Acrylic Painting Classes.

My experience with these painting classes was quite underwhelming, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone seriously interested in learning or improving their art skills.

The class structure is disorganized — students working on completely different mediums like acrylic, watercolor, pencil sketch, and modern art are all grouped into the same session. As a result, the teacher can only give max 10 minutes of personal attention per student during a 2-hour class. Most of the time is spent waiting for your turn, which makes the session feel inefficient and unproductive.

The quality of instruction is also disappointing. I found the teacher to be lacking in depth and expertise.I often felt that I was figuring things out on my own rather than being taught. These classes may work for kids or absolute beginners, but certainly not for anyone hoping to advance their technique or understanding.

The environment felt commercial rather than educational. The full payment is taken upfront, and once they have your money, there’s very little interest in whether you actually complete the course or learn anything meaningful from it.

Now, coming to the most frustrating part — the handling of missed classes. I missed three sessions due to travel and was told I could take one compensation class at the end. Later, I had a medical emergency and missed four more. Despite missing seven classes for valid reasons, I was allowed only one make-up class. Their policy strictly allows just two compensation classes, no exceptions — even for medical reasons. When I requested help, they were rude, unempathetic, and dismissive. There was no willingness to support or understand the student’s situation.

In short, I felt like the focus was entirely on collecting fees — not on delivering value or ensuring students learn and complete the course. A disappointing experience overall.

Preservation of folk arts is very vital and pencil and chaai’s initiative with folk art course programmes is very useful to any art enthusiast who loves to preserve the culture and art history of our Bharat. The ambience of the art school is therapeutic and the faculty is very knowledgeable in the art form and very patient and kind with guiding students. The experience builds in confidence and more understanding to the art form. Students love the space and always take some new techniques with every class. It is highly recommended for any art enthusiast in Bengaluru. It’s not mere art classes but a wholesome experience overall.

Kavita Ma’am is just phenomenal. She has mastered many different types of mediums from oil painting to sketching to water colors. She is so kind and ever ready to help. She really personalizes and tailors the course to the individual’s needs. Prajna ma’am is an excellent coordinator and so sweet. She is extremely organized, hard working, and efficient with scheduling and providing information.

This pretty school also has kitties and beautiful plants which make it an overall relaxing and enchanting atmosphere to take lessons and inspiration. My sketching improved greatly in ways I could not imagine before. I absolutely would travel all the way back again to take more courses. ❤️
