I would like to share my experience, on psychologist Miss Mishanka Odoyoth. It was a online therapy session. She has written treating trauma disorder, in her bio, but without even listening to the full trauma details, she started imposing medicines, and didnt give any tools or techniques to cope with the trauma. She also judged me in some topics related to my trauma without fully listening to it. She said degrading things about ocd, calling ocd people not fully developed minds, which is not at all true, and also mocked my personal and cultural beliefs and started speculating me having other mental health issues, without any proper assesment and proofs. Is this how a psychologist is suppose to be. She is judgemental and insensitive and is just here to treat, not heal. Not a great experience with Dr. Juhi Gupta. We consulted with her for my mother’s severe anxiety issues. Three main issues:
1. Did not give any coping mechanisms/exercises my mother can do to regulate her emotions
2. Had very reprimanding and patronising tonality – not something you want in a therapist.
Despite prompting multiple times to share some coping strategies, the only actionable insight the doctor gave was deep breathing from stomach. Literally no other recommendation was given from her end. Most of the session was focussed on why we need medication due to the severity of her anxiety and how therapy will only work after few weeks of doing the courses and information collection.
I personally have taken therapy multiple times and I also read very actively on mental health. While we were aligned on medication and also need for multiple sessions etc, the fact that doctor was not able to give constructive advice was very off putting
