Brahmins' Coffee Bar

8.7

Brahmins' Coffee Bar offers a unique glimpse into traditional South Indian breakfast culture. The speed of the service is genuinely impressive; orders are prepared and delivered quickly, making it ideal for those with limited time. Many patrons seem to value the consistency of the food – a hallmark of an establishment that clearly prioritizes a familiar and reliable menu.

It's easy to understand why this spot holds a special place for many. The emphasis on simple, classic dishes showcases the purity of the flavors, although some may find the experience a bit straightforward. It appears that the focus is primarily on providing a quick and satisfying meal, contributing to a functional and enjoyable, albeit compact, dining atmosphere. The authenticity of the coffee is noteworthy too.

The food was undoubtedly top-notch in terms of taste and quality. Unfortunately, the lady working at the food counter was very rude. She accused me, a food blogger with more than 1.2 crore views on Google Pictures, of trying to take her photo. I was at an iconic restaurant, and my only interest was to capture images of the place and food itself and definitely not that picture of that ugly lady.

I’d been wanting to go to this place for sometime after hearing great things about it from many people and believe me it was exactly as described. Service is super quick. Food is heavenly - Hot, Fresh and decent portion sizes. Menu only has 4 dishes - Idli, Vade, Chow Chow Bath and Coffee and every single item is delicious. Highly recommend if you’re on a weekend breakfast run. Parking might be a little difficult to find. Public transport is recommended.

I am sure that my feedback or review (whatever one chooses to call it) is not going to make any difference to the functioning of this so-called iconic Bengaluru eatery. However, I shall do what I ethically need to do – give it a comprehensive and honest review. My sincere advice to fellow travellers and food enthusiasts: DO NOT EVER VISIT ‘Brahmins' Coffee Bar’ unless you want to have your system and (not 'or') mood messed up. After a medical check-up yesterday at a diagnostic centre in Jayanagar (Wednesday – July 2, 2025), my partner and I wanted to have something wholesome and healthy. Therefore, we made it a point to reach this tiffin place – an eatery that has almost become a part of Bengaluru's collective history. We ordered two (2) plates of Idly – each having two (2) Idlys, two (2) plates of Khara Bath, and two (2) cups of Filter Coffee. The Idly was tasteless, the chutney was so spicy that I had to throw the plate away, and the Khara Bath was average at best. However, what was the worst was the Filter Coffee – tasteless, and absolutely flavourless. The staff was extremely rude. It seemed as if these people were doing some sort of a charity by serving paid food. There was this lady who was manning the serving counter. She almost screamed at my partner for taking a couple of photos without disturbing anyone. However, the worst was yet to come for us! When we reached home, both of us had upset stomachs and we have since been recovering from the horror. I am never going to go to this place for sure. What I am also going to do is dissuade all my colleagues and my students from visiting this place. I am also going on Social Media soon enough to write about my experience. Folks, buck up! If you do not respect your customers, believe you me, today or tomorrow, you are going to wind up without an iota of doubt! Bengaluru is such a lovely city with such a lovely bunch of people. Never ever have I faced such humiliation and torture at the hands of an eatery that boasts of keeping the old Bengaluru culture alive!

Finally checked out the legendary Brahmins Coffee Bar in the heart of Bengaluru — and honestly, it felt overhyped. It's just another dosa-idli joint, slightly on the expensive side, and the staff weren’t very polite either. The place was super crowded, probably riding on its name and nostalgia. I reached around 11:30 AM, and they were already out of idlis — a big letdown. I tried the vada, which was crispy, and had a cup of filter coffee, which was average at best. The vibe outside the hotel was decent for a quick bite, but nothing extraordinary. Visited mostly out of FOMO, and now I know — it’s a place you can easily skip.

Don’t think there’s a better place for food in the world than this. Consistent always. Everyday. Have been coming here since I was a kid with my grandparents when I used to visit. The best Idli you will ever eat. As a sambhar lover I still don’t miss it here. That chutney is unbeatable. Your order should be this: 2 Idli’s (ask for benne) 1 Vada 1 kharabath and kesari bath (share this with a friend) 1 filter coffee If food was a religion, this is is where gods reside.

Really enjoyed having breakfast here! Started off ordering 2 Idly's and 1 Vade. The Vade was one of the best I've had, huge crunch and crispiness on the outside while a soft inside... textbook Vade. I also liked the chutney so much, came back for seconds. Then the coffee was really nice but even cooler to see them made it in front of you, great showmanship. Would recommend this place, fast and quick service!
