Decent taste and average quality. Good quantity for the charged price. Vada was not crispy enough. Idli and dosa were good. Overall a good place for decent food in the vicinity. Especially for a coffee break as coffee was perfect here.

In keeping with Bangalore themes, the classic Darshini style of breakfast is something you just cannot miss! On the way from the airport, I was suddenly reminded of a place we used to frequent when it had newly opened many years ago - South Thindi's. A great stop over during late afternoons for a quick vada sambar or cup of filter coffee and just loitering around its veranda speaking with company or just watching the world go by - ever so slowly.
On this occasion, it was early enough in the morning and everything was looking clean and fresh! As takeaway, some idly, vada, and khara bath was on order from the family and it was all well prepared. Though there are other places I would cite to have a softer and more tasty idly, this was perfectly adequate.
I did notice on the menu certain specials including a ragi rotti, akki rotti and mangalore buns. Perhaps to be saved for another time. If you happen to be in the area, be sure to check it out for a quick breakfast or even late afternoon snack!

Located near Krishna Rao park, this place is un-missable due to the large metallic installation made of vessels. Looks a bit like lord Ganesha 🙂
It has a variety of thindi items like ragi dosE, kesari and kharabath, neer dosE after 1230pm, ravE dosE and a slightly sweet menthya dosE. Idli vadE etc available as well. And of course, coffee and tea. Opens early, had meals in the afternoons, and bonda bajji items in the evening. They also serve Mangalore buns. In spite of a large menu, turnaround time for getting the good is fast. And the prices are reasonable 🙂 fun place to hang out with friends and grab some thindi!

This is a good place in Basvangudi for South Indian breakfast. They have quick service, the restaurant was well maintained and very reasonably priced.
It is a pure veg self service restaurant. We tried the plain dosa, idli vada and the lemon tea, all of which were good. Worth a visit for anyone looking for a decent South Indian breakfast.

Like the name says they are famous for SouthIndian breakfast. This is a popular place around basvangudi park and attracts lot of crowd as there is lot of place to sit and chitchat in the morning. Parking is available but would say limited slots for 4 wheeler. In regard to food the Vada we tried was really crispy and even the masala dosa was crisp and masala inside was well done. We tried mango Halbai and it was good too and Madhur Vada was crispy in every bite, Coffee was okay too.

Very Average food, there are other breakfast spots nearby which serves better breakfast dishes. However I felt Rava Masala dosa is very good (too oily). I tried Idli, Vada, Rava Idli and Sabsige dosa all these items are pretty average.
The filter coffe is extremely good - Must try.
There are somewhat parking challenges but if you visit early morning, we can manage car parking nearby.

As the name says, the South Thindis serves south delicacies in a darshani style.
The place is often crowded and got different menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We wanted to eat either Akki rotti or Ragi rotti, but it was the breakfast menu time, so had to settle for masala dosa.
Service is quite fast despite of lots of orders from considerably big crowd.
The restaurant hasn’t got any chairs, just standing tables few at indoors and few at outdoors.
The coffee is something which is one of the must try from the menu.
Dosa was good, crispy, properly toasted with perfect color and taste.
A good place to grab a quick bite or if you are dining alone.
