Mayank Sagar

It’s a wonderful bookstore, with almost every title you could wish for. For book lovers, it truly feels like paradise—time slips away so effortlessly that you won’t even realize when two or three hours have passed. An absolute must-visit spot in Bangalore.

Honestly, I could stay there for the rest of my life; there’s just so much to explore. There are actually two separate stores: the first one is for music, philosophy, and similar subjects, and just a short walk away there’s a second building. On its first floor is the store I love most. It’s filled with books on psychology, poetry, classic literature, etc.. Outside the store, you can also buy postcards, tote bags, and more. So you really have to set aside at least four hours if you want to visit even once (only if you like hunting for good books) ✨️

Blossom Book House offers an extensive selection of pre-loved books, all at remarkably low prices, often ranging from ₹200 to ₹600 depending on the condition and rarity.

Though there aren’t many comfy spots to sit and read, the space itself is vast, spanning an entire building floor with bookshelves at every turn. You’ll find everything from obscure comics to children’s books to literary classics.

When it comes to classics, they stock multiple editions and translations. I personally love the Everyman’s Library prints, and if you look hard enough, you’ll spot a few tucked away in the far corners.

Despite its long-standing popularity, Blossom retains a chill, unpretentious charm that encourages slow, meandering hours of discovery. A must-visit for book lovers!

Blossom Book House – Bangalore’s Literary Treasure

Nestled in the heart of Shanthala Nagar and Ashok Nagar, Blossom Book House is a haven for book lovers and literary wanderers alike. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the scent of old pages and the quiet magic of knowledge. Towering shelves crammed with books from floor to ceiling create an enchanting labyrinth, inviting you to lose yourself in its vast collection. Whether you seek fiction, rare editions, academic texts, or hidden second-hand gems, there’s something for every curious mind.

The charm of Blossom lies in its beautifully chaotic yet deeply curated arrangement. The friendly staff are passionate and well-read, often guiding customers to titles they never knew they needed. From international bestsellers to regional literature in multiple languages, the diversity in genres is astounding. The pricing is also reasonable, making literature accessible to all. It’s not just a store—it’s a celebration of stories and intellect.

What makes Blossom Book House truly unforgettable is its soul. In a time where digital dominates, this store offers an escape—a space to disconnect from screens and reconnect with words. Locals, students, travelers, and authors alike frequent this beloved landmark. Spending an hour here feels like stepping into a different world, and every visit leaves you with more than just books—it leaves you inspired.

All types of story books are available here, First hand and second hand. The second hand books are cheaper. You can also sell your old books here and the price is set by blossoms which is comparatively better than other book-selling apps, (as far as I have noticed) it is a huge place located on the first floor with rows and rows of books, a true haven for book lovers. I came here just to look for some books!
First of all, the place is really cool and quite, and the book collection is amazing. In addition to English, there are books in other regional languages, graphic novels, and comics. It’s fantastic that Bengali story books of mixed genres have their own section. I really like it! Every staff is really helpful. You can visit this welcoming place on a laid-back weekend, and you’ll also receive a fair discount if you purchase books.

We recently visited Bookworm Store in Church Street! It’s a cozy little gem with a great selection of books—fiction, Self-help Biographys, and many more . The staff is super friendly and always ready to help you find your next read. The vibe is really chill, perfect for browsing and getting lost in the shelves. There is 20% discount on original books, and they even have secondhand books which are for half the original price of book, which is a nice touch. Definitely recommend if you’re a book lover!

A home away from home

For a crazy bibliomaniac like me who used to commute from Chennai to Church Street by train to buy books, shifting to Bengaluru has been a different experience. Krishna sir and his team are always friendly and hospitable. All new books at 20% off. Regular book launches with samosa, sweets, coffee and team. Monthly events by different book groups. A family of growing cats on the premises. Two washrooms to use for attending nature’s calls. One can lose all sense of time here and discover books. The top floor now houses an antiquarian and rare books section. Thank you always to Krishna sir and team and his kindness.

The pricing structure can be a little unpredictable, so bargaining skills are definitely an asset!

While the layout may feel a little chaotic, the potential rewards are well worth the effort. Many appreciate the opportunity to unearth rare finds and build a personal library filled with treasures. This place lures you in announcing very cheap deals, but that’s not really the case. The collection offered at that price is very limited in variety.

Once you’re inside, the place does offer a decent collection of books at good rates. These are not the cheapest rates, but you can negotiate some with the guy at the counter.

As I said, the collection is decent, not the biggest out there, especially in comparison to some of the other places I have seen in Bangalore. But they do offer some rare titles if you have the patience to wade through the other stuff. Which, let’s be honest, is the best part of books – the browsing.

I would really recommend this place if you are looking to complete your collections at a cheap rate. The books are neatly organized (though not always by genre) and mostly in good condition. They cater to a diverse variety of audience.
All in all, a pleasant place to browse and just bask in books.

Street Parking available in front of the shop but the shop is not accessible by wheelchair.

Best book fair in Bangalore. Has stock books, damaged or rejected books. The prices discussion at the counter may cause issue as negotiations are very subjective. Books worth 1000’s of rupees can be purchased at very reasonable or less amount. You have to take some time, search and find yourself or else it is not worth visiting.

A Hidden Gem for Book Lovers in Bengaluru!

Stumbled upon this delightful book stall in Bengaluru, and what a refreshing experience it was!

The staff was polite, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about books—which is becoming a rare trait these days. They were more than happy to recommend titles, discuss genres, and even help me discover some lesser-known gems based on my interests.

Prices were very reasonable, and the collection was surprisingly diverse—ranging from bestsellers to classics, and even some niche titles. It’s clear that the people running this stall care deeply about reading and their customers.

If you’re a bookworm, casual reader, or just someone who loves the smell of pages, this place is definitely worth a visit. You don’t just buy books here—you have a conversation, get a recommendation, and leave with a smile (and maybe a few extra titles you didn’t plan to buy!).

Highly recommended.

I had an incredible time at the Koramangala Book Fair! Not only was the atmosphere buzzing with book lovers, but the deals were absolutely astonishing. I managed to snag three fantastic books, originally worth 2000 rupees, for a mere 100 rupees! The savings alone were worth the visit.

The variety of books available was impressive, catering to all tastes and genres. From classic literature to contemporary bestsellers, there was something for everyone. The stalls were well-organized, making it easy to browse and explore the vast collection.

What stood out the most was the affordability. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found such high-quality books at such a steal. The organizers truly deserve praise for making literature accessible to all.

The friendly vendors and fellow book enthusiasts created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was a pleasure to engage in book discussions and recommendations with fellow attendees.

In summary, my experience at the Koramangala Book Fair was nothing short of fantastic. The incredible discounts, diverse book selection, and the camaraderie of fellow bookworms made it a memorable outing. I can’t wait for the next edition of the fair and will definitely be returning for more literary treasures!

For people in and Koramangala this is a treasure trove. A small space at the front and a huge godown like space at the back that has table upon table of books. Primarily container imports of library abandoned books from the US and the UK. 4 books for 999, 3 books for 299, old Enid Blytons for Rs 40, 50, etc… can be quite dusty. Wear a mask, check patiently, a group of Tamil people manage the store registered as GIFT Books. Huge collection of books for children. Lot of coffee table books. Avenue street is a famous commercial market in Bangalore, for purchasing anything in the market you should have bargaining skill because here many people sell their product at a high rate for a new customer,
Because of cross-checking first 3 to 4 shops
then only buy.
Tourists who love shopping for books on their travels have to visit Avenue Street. It has a variety of shops ranging from street-side bookstalls to bookshops. All these bookstores house a variety of books across all genres and languages.
Lookout for old, rare finds at this market. There is a good collection of classic novels that are normally hard to find.

Good bookstore that provides books on sanatana dharma , puranas, vedas etc. Best book store in bangalore for Hinduism and Sanskrit books. There are books in English, sanskrit, kannada. Found many rare and out of print books here. They are not able to give any discount, but given that many books of these are rare to find even online, we must support such independent bookstores.

We had specifically come to this shop from far distance

They are supposed to open at evening 4:30, but no one to open even at 4:50pm even after we had called them in advance at noon 12.

They did not respond for back to back calls between 4:25 to 4:50.

We had to wait for long.

Once opened books that we enquired were not there (this is still okay)

Then we had bought 4 other books from here.

Not even single rupee discount

Casher lady had worst attitude. Do not even listen to customers what they are enquiring.

Forget about discount, Worst behaviour was that they denied to provide extra cover when it was raining heavily while we were leaving from the shop even after we ask for it (there was no sign of rain when we came initially otherwise we would come with covers along)

This shop is not really worth to visit.

It lacks a small reading corner where you can relax with a coffee.

Prices are reasonable, and they offer discounts on select titles.

Perfect Book and Stationery Store

I would certainly rate it above Sapna because of the availability of stationery products at an affordable rate. Moreover the location is extremely ideal at the beginning of the Thippasandra main road.

Though the books collection for leisure readers might be less, school and college students could get their hands on everything. The staff is also pretty knowledgeable and gets you even the information the school wouldn’t have shared!

Nice store in the heart of Indiranagar. On the ground floor it is mostly gift items, stationery, note books etc and on the first floor you get text books of state and central syllabus.

Well lit, spaced well and good options to choose from.

Parking is off the store on the main road and not an an issue.

Overall a good place to be in for relevant stuff.

“Indian’s Oldest Bookstore”

I love reading and was very excited to visit this oldest bookstore from the day I came across this in reels.

From the start of the bookstore till the very end, from the right to the left, every nook and corner is filled with a wide range of books.

From thrillers to horror, from fantasies to fairytale, from romance to comics, from self help to topic based books, from kids books to young adults, from Indian authors to International authors – they have it all.
You name it and they have it.

Apart from books, they also sell stationary, toys, tote bags, bookmarks and so on.

Check out the place readers, I am sure you will love it!

It’s next to the MG Road metro station, so the commutation is not an issue.

Happy time! Happy reading!!

I went there reading on the net that it’s the oldest bookstore in India…which I realized on the way is not true! But still thought of checking it out.

To be honest, it appeared to be just okay and more than that I felt disappointed seeing the space – its a huge place with some classy old world charm but seems to be ignored by the owners and not being upkept well.

Whenever I am in Chennai, will try the one which is the oldest!

Even though the facade says 1844 ( which is when Higginbothams first opened book shop in Chennai), Higginbotham’s opened its first bookstore in Bangalore at M.G. Road (then known as South Parade) in 1905. The store was located in a two-storey Graeco-Roman-style building constructed in 1897.
Oldest book store in Bengaluru, the store is a heaven for book lovers. They also sell stationery here

This is not the oldest bookstore in India; it’s a branch of the oldest bookstore (located in Chennai). Therefore, the tag of 1844 is somewhat misleading.
For a place carrying so much heritage, it was truly disappointing. They carry an okay collection, and the focus seems to be more on stationery and toys for kids.
You can visit for its heritage, but it’s not a must-visit place—especially on Church Street, where you will find many amazing bookstores. All in all, a disappointment.

Was Visiting this iconic place for first time ..But on the face of it it seems a bit far cry from it’s past “claimed” glory -Selected but excellent collection of non fiction -No seating arrangements where one can sit and go through ..All Brick and mortar institutions like this are being challenged by E comm. Still a cozy place with old world charm .

I have been coming to this bookshop for the past few years and have found many unusual and useful books at reasonable prices. If you make the effort to look carefully, your patience will be rewarded. It is an old fashioned place meant for those with a reading habit. The staff is helpful and the building has a charming gothic facade. Well worth a visit.

A truly cozy bookstore with a beautiful concept, combining a peaceful reading space with a charming little café. It’s the perfect spot to spend your day surrounded by books, sipping on something warm, or just doing your own creative work. The menu is simple yet delicious, just enough to keep you comfy without distraction. What makes the place even more special is the owner incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about books. On rainy days, the ambiance becomes magical. An absolute gem highly recommend visiting if you’re anywhere nearby. I loved it!

It’s a very good spot for readers , it’s lush green around the building, it’s very uniquely planned, the book collection could be increased still has a decent collection available, the vibe is good . Food is fine , I order latte it was fine to have while reading.
The ambience is very good. From 4pm onwards it gets quite busy so better to go in the morning to afternoon section. The place is a must visit for book lovers .

Visited this place in the evening for high tea and was impressed by the charming house and serene garden—it truly feels like an escape from the chaos. They have a lovely collection of books across various genres, perfect for some quiet reading.

We ordered Hot Chocolate, Spinach and Corn Quiche, and a Corn and Cheese Calzone. The food was average, but the Hot Chocolate was really good. The overall vibe was peaceful—an ideal spot to unwind and focus.

This store is a great choice for school syllabus books. However, if you’re looking for leisure reading or general reading books, the selection is limited, and books are available in English and Kannada. They also have a good collection of stationery items.

Please avoid this store if possible .
I bought “Hop skip & Jump” for nursery here. They charged 1800+ here and the same kit is available in Flipkart for 1200. We don’t have an option to buy from somewhere else because the so called reputed schools have tie ups with them.
The complete kit for kindergarten, nursery is around 3K and you are not allowed to remove any item from the kit. This is a new age loot.
