Russell Market in Shivajinagar is just a minute’s walk from the bus stand. Once a famous, lively market, it’s sadly lost much of its old-world charm. The place isn’t clean — narrow, messy lanes and a strong market smell everywhere. It can be maintained better, but no one really bothers. The vegetable, meat, and flower sections still stay busy with locals. A nostalgic spot for many, but far from what it could be.

Wholesale vegetable market. Hotels, restaurant and PG people purchase bulk quantity at reasonable prices from here. Also most of the vendors will sell for less quantity also. This is mainly vegetable markets. Plenty of dhaniya, curry leaves and pudina leaves. We have not found much other leafs. Also we have not found much fruit shops also.
Parking is big issue here. You have to very early in the morning for easy parking and peaceful shopping.

I love this place for versatility and crowd. It’s local market that sells all sorts of stuff what you need from salt to software. Its bit dirty and busy on weekend. Overcrowded chaos would be an understatement. This entire area is wild. There are many shops here, but the stores are very redundant. I spent the day walking around there and still didn’t find most of the items I went there for. Everyone is basically selling the same items. The items that are inexpensive are very low quality. It’s not only the market, but the whole surrounding area is beyond overcrowded. In my opinion is not worth the effort.

It opens at 7.30 in the morning and continues to bustle till 8.00 in the evening. You can buy anything and everything here from apparels, home decor items, to shoes and fashion items. If you have good bargaining skills then you can buy a wardrobe for just Rs.350 and fake reebok shoes for Rs.50. Do not go for clothes as they last for only one wash.
